Sydney Bak
Sydney Bak (Plainfield, IL) began her formal dance training at Inspire School of Dance under the direction of Anne Forrest. During her time at Inspire, she danced competitively and worked with choreographers including Hanna Brictson, Sara Bibik, Lauren Adams, and Brooke Pierotti. She also had the opportunity to perform at the Joyce Theater in 2016 for the Destiny Rising Benefit Gala. Sydney has studied with Jennifer Johns-Grasso and Jonathan Zeng, performing in theater productions as well as vocal showcases. Sydney attended Pace University in New York City and was a member of the Pforzheimer honors program. She graduated magna cum laude in May of 2023 with a BFA in Commercial Dance and a minor in Arts and Entertainment Management. Through the versatile dance program at Pace, Sydney was able to further her training in modern and contemporary, studying under Shay Bland and Nijawwon Matthews. During her time at Pace, she performed works by Lauren Gaul, Scott Jovovich, Suzi Taylor, and Dominique Kelley, as well as spending a semester in Los Angeles studying choreography and dance on camera. She also attended summer intensives by Gus Giordano Dance School, Summer Dance Sessions, and DanceWorks Chicago. Sydney now continues to teach dance and choreograph at multiple studios in the Milwaukee area. She is incredibly thrilled for her second season with Nova Linea Contemporary Dance!
